Guest curated by Megan Robson (Associate Curator, Exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney), the exhibition features the diverse disciplines of the 2022 Studio Program artists, including photography, sculpture, installation, printmaking and performance.

Shaye Dương utilises traditional processes of fabrication to question perceived truths about recognisable objects from the past and the present; Chelsea Farquhar brings together objects and materials from different worlds to explore notions of the theatrical, humour and the uncanny; Dani Reynolds’ work takes as its starting point an exploration into world records, popular culture, performance and fame within the context of the Guinness World Records; using labour-intensive and technically challenging analogue photographic techniques and processes, Cecilia Tizard takes the studio itself as a concept, a working space and a source of inspiration; through his focus on the construction, circulation, and repositories of knowledge, Ash Tower has been investigating the relationship between atomic technology and funerary architecture.

To mark the opening of our last exhibition for the year, Studios: 2022, ACE is hosting a range of activities throughout the afternoon and into the night on Saturday 12 November.

The gallery and upstairs studios will be open for all, and the Lion Arts Centre courtyard will be full of artmaking activities, live music, and home to the Soi 38 food truck, serving seasonal Thai snacks.

Selected works in the gallery and studios will be for sale, with all proceeds going directly to the Studio Program artists.

Official proceedings and Dani Reynolds' live-performance will be Auslan interpreted (from 5pm to 7.15pm).

This event is supported by the City of Adelaide.

3–5pm: Open Studios & Family Day Artmaking

Bring the family and take part in some exciting artmaking activities for children and adults inspired by exhibiting ACE Studio Program artist, Chelsea Farquhar, whose work evokes the glamour and histrionics of the circus and other popular forms of theatrical entertainment of yesteryear. Create your own wearable ruff in an artist-led workshop open to all, and have your face painted like a clown.

Visit the upstairs studios at for an exclusive sneak-peek into the process that has inspired and directly led to the Studio Program artists' work in the gallery, as well as the opportunity to purchase artworks created across 2022.

Also on-view upstairs is a mini-exhibition of works created by Youth Inc. students who participated in a suite of workshops with ACE Studio Program artists across the year.

Youth Inc's Future Pathways is supported by Foundation SA and Human.Kind Ripple Effect.

5–7.30pm: Opening remarks, live performance & party vibes

Opening remarks to officially launch the exhibition will commence at 5pm, followed by a live performance by Dani Reynolds as part of their Studios: 2022 exhibition outcome.

We encourage you to hang out, with a DJ and our bar, proudly stocked by ACE sponsors Bowden Brewing and Charlotte Dalton Wines, continuing on into the evening.

12–1pm: Chamber Music Adelaide's 'On The Terrace'

This free music performance gives audiences the chance to hear performances by Adelaide’s most-loved chamber musicians, rising stars and special guests, as part of Chamber Music Adelaide’s 2022 'On the Terrace' chamber music festival. Enjoy short performances in ACE's front room by Zuhir Naji and Saleh al Mansoor, and Sing! Poco Tutti Choir.

This event is occurring at ACE independent of the Opening Celebrations.
