Kate Kurucz: Painting on Copper

Expand your skills in oil painting with Adelaide based artist Kate Kurucz.

When

2 November 2019

Learn how to apply oil painting techniques and processes to create a radiant painting on copper panels in this hands-on workshop. Copper has a significant presence in art history, and provides a beautiful, ultra-smooth surface with a glowing quality. In addition to working on copper, Kurucz will share tips and techniques on how to bring traditional oil painting techniques to a contemporary practice.

All materials and light refreshments are provided, as well as one-on-one feedback and focussed attention in this intimate course.

Inspired by myths, extremity, and what is around her, Kate Kurucz looks for the strange combinations and connections between things. To create her paintings, she often builds a set as a reference, or places objects together in unusual pairings. She is moved by the potential of paint to create moments of intense emotion and fascinated by the way the 'stuff' of paint can be physically manipulated. Taking part in the Collections Project (Art Gallery of South Australia) in 2016 has been a highlight for Kurucz.
