MATERIAL EXPERIMENTATION workshops support student artists in redefining success, valuing risk-taking over convention, and experimentation over perfection. We think student artists in years 10 to 12 will find these workshops most valuable.

Experimentation of ideas and mediums drive contemporary art making. An artist’s ability to experiment and take risks will determine their potential for growth, concept development and creative output. Embracing materials engenders a sense of exploration and innovation, allowing artists to expand their artistic boundaries. Through persistent trial and error artists cultivate an intimate familiarity with their chosen medium. They unearth fresh perspectives, insights and unexpected connections between ideas and materials that give their work intricacy and depth.

MATERIAL EXPERIMENTATION invites secondary school artists to work with one of four contemporary artists in practical workshops that explore approaches to artistic experimentation.

See other available workshops in-school and at ACE.

If an available date or time is not appropriate for your class, please get in touch to discuss.

Rosina Possingham is an early-career multi-disciplinary artist who is motivated to challenge, and rediscover the way people experience the landscape and environment. Her evolving practice forefronts collaborative processes and digital strategies with a focus on ecological systems and dynamic image making. Her work is focussed on our human relationship with the natural world through notions of place and the local. Rosina completed her Masters-Visual Art and Design at the University of South Australia, 2016 and recently directed Herding Caterpillars, a play turned into extended reality using VR technology for Nature Festival.

You will find her: playing with old film cameras, scanning things, working on community art/design projects [all ages], taking images of plants, landscapes, and bodies in nature.

Rosina is a current studio member of Floating Goose Studios.
